Roast pork and wonton noodle soup at Big Wing Wong. Wontons were good, but the pork could have been more moist. I’ve had better roast pork at Hing Huang (formerly Wing Wong and also Wing Huang) below Canal, but unfortunately, it’s inconsistent.

I’ve been to So Moon Nan Jip more times than I can remember, but two weeks ago was the first time having galbi (Korean beef ribs). So Moon Nan Jip has wood charcoal grills so the meat ends up tasting smoky. I quite liked it, but my mom thought the meat wasn’t as tender as the last time she was there.

Pastrami lox from Tompkins Square Bagels this morning. Tasted just like pastrami in silky smoked salmon form. Lovely.
Happy Birthday to a very special lady, my mom! We celebrated her birthday this weekend over Korean BBQ followed by a tiramisu cake ($28) from Shilla Bakery for dessert. Since it was from a Korean bakery, the cake was lighter and less sweet than a cake from an Italian bakery, but it worked out perfectly since we’d just gorged on ribs. The dark cocoa powder on top didn’t hurt either.

My mom brought us buns from Chung Nyun (청년), a new bun/dumpling shop in NJ. Surprisingly, kimchi was the best. (Taken with instagram)
My Calamares Fritos Bocatas ($8), fried calamari sandwich with pimento aioli at Churreria got a little soggy while I waited for a table, but it was still pretty tasty when finally got to it. Very filling too given the small size.
Wasn’t crazy about the kalguksu (칼국수) at Western Doma Noodles, but the dumplings were beautifully fried. One problem? No meat. If you’re going to make vegetarian dumplings, you have to stuff those suckers with lots of stuff to compensate. These were somewhat lacking.

Started the night off with some Serrano ham yesterday at Francesca, the new tapas restaurant from the owners of Frankies Spuntino. Sliced extra thin, the salty sheets of jamón practically melted in my mouth. Lazy weekends with jamón and wine are hard to beat.
I woke up this morning craving the same thing I ate the night before, pizza from Artichoke. BF and I got four slices to share: 1 crab, 1 artichoke, 1 margherita, and 1 vodka. This was pretty much what I ate the night before except for the vodka sicilian. Vodka might be tied with crab as my favorite. Really saucy.
